Green Lights

As women, I believe many of us see each other as "green lights" to be open and vulnerable.

We are emotionally brave, revealing our strengths and our fragilities over a one-time conversation over coffee or dinner.

We share our diverse, painful, and ugly truths, and we still smell sweet to each other. Isn't that a gorgeous thing?

We fall in love, platonically, with other women who are strangers after mere moments of connection and conversation, even if we never see each other again.

"Text me when you're home," we say, "We want to know you are safe."

What man would say that to another man after they just met?
